Anime Tracker stores all dates and times in the database as UTC. When displaying them it converts to each anime's own broadcast timezone.
Broadcast Timezone (the anime's TZ)
The "Broadcast Timezone" field on the add/edit anime form. The dropdown has 6 fixed options: Asia/Tokyo (JST), Europe/Istanbul (TRT), UTC, America/New_York (ET), America/Los_Angeles (PT), Europe/London. For most Japanese anime, Asia/Tokyo is the right choice.
Quick path — Auto-fill:
Enter the AnimeSchedule URL and press the "Auto-fill" button — the broadcast_day, broadcast_time and broadcast_timezone fields are populated automatically with Asia/Tokyo + Tokyo time. The AnimeSchedule API returns Japanese anime data correctly in Tokyo TZ. No manual entry needed.
Two Valid Workflows
The TZ field and the time field should reflect the same timezone. Both approaches are valid:
The anime's broadcast region: Pick "JST" + enter the Tokyo time (e.g. 23:30). The anime detail page shows "23:30 (JST)"; you calculate your own local time. The AnimeSchedule Auto-fill uses this approach.
Your own local time: Pick "TRT" + enter the Turkish time in 24-hour format (e.g. 17:30). The anime detail page shows "17:30 (TRT)", directly readable. If you are reading manually from the AnimeSchedule site, the site already shows Turkish time; just convert am/pm to 24-hour and write it down.
Important: the TZ selection and time field must be consistent. If you pick "JST" but enter Turkish time, or "TRT" but enter Tokyo time, the "when is the next episode" calculation will be wrong.
What the AnimeSchedule site shows:
If you open the AnimeSchedule site in a browser it shows times in am/pm (12-hour) format, in your local TZ (visitors from Turkey see Turkish time, visitors from elsewhere see their own country's time). For manual entry: pick your local TZ on the form (TRT for Turkey), convert am/pm to 24-hour (e.g. "5:30 PM" -> 17:30), write it into the "Broadcast Time" field. The site does not show Tokyo TZ — Tokyo TZ data is only pulled directly from the AnimeSchedule API via the "Auto-fill" button.
Daylight Saving Time (DST):
If the anime's broadcast TZ observes DST (Europe, US), the broadcast time shifts by one hour twice a year (late March and late October). Asia/Tokyo does not observe DST, so Japanese anime times stay fixed year-round.
Upgrading from Older v0.5 Installations
After upgrading to v0.5.1 none of your data is lost. Broadcast times look the same (entries that were added under the default Asia/Tokyo TZ are still Asia/Tokyo). The anime detail page shows a TZ label (JST, etc.) next to each broadcast time.
